The Basics of Guitar Playing
A guitar is a magnificent stringed instrument, which produces sweet musical notes when the strings of this instrument are plucked either with a finger or with a pick. If you want to learn playing this instrument, you must be prepared to work hard, because it is not an easy task and you will need to really slog very hard for improving your guitar playing skills. As in the case of learning any other skill, it is very important to develop a strong grip over the subject first. In this case, you need to develop an in-depth understanding about all the theoretical and practical aspects of guitar playing in order to learn & master guitar perfectly.
Learners must first develop a proper understanding about the most basic aspects of guitar playing, learn the correct guitar playing techniques and practice regularly with undiluted persistence and patience in order to learn and master guitar. You need to learn about the most basic aspects of guitar playing such as learning about the different parts of a guitar, names of the different guitar strings, the correct posture to be used while playing, how to hold the guitar properly, how to hold the plectrum correctly, the correct left and right hand positions, ear training for scale recognition, techniques to recognize each note that is played, tuning the guitar, picking techniques, basic chords (major and minor chords), chord progressions, finger style picking, strumming and different strumming patterns, music reading and guitar tablature, music theory, understanding the significance of chord diagrams and chord formulas, and a lot of other important fundamentals.
You would need to develop a very good understanding of the basic major chords (such as A major, c major, D major, E major and G major) and the basic minor chords (such as A minor, D minor and E minor). You would need to acquaint yourself with all the beginner’s basic chords, learn how to read chord formulas, and how to make stunning chord substitutions. You would also need to learn how to improve your strumming techniques, how to go about with chord progression, how to make smooth and fluent chord transitions, etc. but for this, you would need to train your fingers to play flawlessly by developing muscle-memory skills.
